Getting the hang of it again…

Amazing 9 hour crossing to the Exumas. Planning on Norman’s Cay to drop anchor. Whew… now we can relax, major crossings done

Just passing Nassau..

Our trip to Normans was fine, Wayne even got the fishing lines in the water before we hit the shallow banks again after Nassau. No joy not a bite.

Wow! What a trip. Best conditions ever! Check this out…

After a long leisurely day, we pulled into Norman’s Cay. This is a favorite stopping point. Usually good protection and a good place to unwind after a long trip. Norman’s Cay is famous for it’s history as a drug running operation with the Medellin Cartel.. There is still the last remnants of a crashed plane in the inside bay. Google it for more info. When we first came here, it was still pretty rough, one time we hiked way up on the highest hill and found an old wooden boat that had been used as a lookout. We also found nice kiting in the bay. Now there is a beautiful new private marina and still some pretty great anchor spots.

We decided to move on down to Staniel Cay to pick up a little skiff that we shipped over from Florida. With the skiff, it will make it a lot nicer kiting, fishing and exploring.

We picked up the skiff, and moved around the corner to one of our favorite spots, Big Majors Anchorage. This is a great place to anchor with lots of wind protection in most directions. It is also the home of the World Famous swimming pigs. It’s also one of our favorite places to kite. A bit of a bumpy ride out to a little island when it’s windy, but once there… it’s heaven!

Next day we hunkered down and enjoyed boat chores during the storm. Tomorrow is another day..

  1. Looks like you are back living the life. Fun to see the pictures and reconize some of the places we got to visit with you. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I can’t believe how clear that water is–in the photo of the skiff, I at first thought the skiff was sitting on a beach! I love those swimming pigs–I had no idea pigs could swim, let alone enjoy it. How about Ciao Bella for a name? Ciao means both hello and goodbye. Thanks for showing us these fabulous, beautiful places! I’m awestruck. Keep ’em coming!
