Winding down for this season…

One picture to sum up the second half of our Bahamas Trip.

Hello again Friends! All is well on “My Sharona”… we left off at Prime Cay. We spent a few days exploring this beautiful area.

I’ve also shared some video clips at the end of the blog. Hope you enjoy.

We found a perfect beach to hang out on.. Heading North again tomorrow…

Here’s something you don’t want to see out in the ocean… a waterspout. Luckily we were inside on our anchor.

Quiet Time of year here at Little Farmers…
Little Farmers Marina getting a spruce up.
The Captain and his Boat..
catching up on emails…
Went for a swim only to find Barry Baracuda checking me out…
Spaghetti Anyone? Lovely boat hair. haha
Arrived back to Staniel Cay.. Time to provision, dump trash, and enjoy Colorful Staniel Cay
Time for Cracked Conch and Conch Fritters at the Bar. Nothing better than a little health food.
Ran into our friend Brooks – so good to see him.

After doing some laundry, buying more provisions, we were off again North. Another storm was coming and our friends on Sunbird and us decided to move to Bell Island where we will have good protection. We had been planning to keep moving north and then Cross to the Island of Eluthera, and then on to the Abacos…

Bell Island anchorage… unusually crowded because of the front expected and we will have West wind, this is a good place to be. Little did we know that we would be staying here for over a week, waiting out storm after storm.

As you can see, it wasn’t always raining or storming.. We went over to the Cambridge Cay sandbar to give Bella a chance to run around the island.

A beautiful young conch with vibrant colors… back in to grow big here at Cambridge.. a national park where you cannot take anything away except photos and great memories.

We were lucky to find a place to snorkel within swimming distance to our anchor… What a fantastic spot.

Larry the Lobster checking me out. Because these places are safe, the animals don’t always hide.

More fun weather….

That blue dot was our location for this one… yikes…
Bella’s favorite spot
Thanks to Laurie and Richard for a fabulous dinner aboard “Forever Young”.. Also great to meet Katrena and Jim . In an amazing coincidence , Katrena and Jim are now owners of the Agave Hotel in Los Barriles, Baja!! How’s that for a small world?
While we were there, a seaplane flew in to drop off visitors to Bell Island.

After a week of waiting for weather to move north, We made the decision to head back to Staniel Cay, drop off and store our little boat until we return in the fall. We also needed to dump our 3 bags of trash and provision for the trip back to Florida. We are going to try and take our time, and hoping the weather improves for the next week or so.

On the move back to Staniel Cay

Views from our mooring in Staniel Cay.

Some scenes around town.. Little Sharona buttoned up for the season.. Dinner with Lynn and Mike (Sunbird)

Beach Walk before we head north again…

Shroud Cay did not disappoint for a day… We took the Dingy down the interior river. From the sound side of the island, through mangroves, and it empties us out on the ocean side. Usually this is a fun ride, but at slack tide, it is just beautiful.

Just when we thought we had a few more days.. the wind is switching and we have to move again. This time, we decided to just make a run to Nassau, and then Bimini , since it looks like we may be able to cross to Florida in the next few days.

Thanks to a friend, we stayed at a private dock on the southern side of Nassau… We were greeted by the owners new pups. Bella wasn’t too sure about them. We chose to stay 3 nights and wait for storms to pass.

We then decided to head to Chub Cay Marina. More storms coming, and we love Chub Cay.

Storm’s a brewing….

That’s Wayne after the storm going to retrieve a bucket that got blown off the boat…

Finally a nice travel day. Made it to Bimini and put the anchor down. Plan an early morning departure to Fort Lauderdale tomorrow.

Our last night “on the hook”.. Looked like a perfect night. Ready for an early morning crossing the Gulf Stream to Fort Lauderdale tomorrow! (of course another storm blew in at midnight and we rocked and rolled the rest of the night.. I guess Mother Nature wanted to give us “One More For The Road. ” Haha

All in all, we had a great crossing. Hardly and wind, with just a small north swell. The Gulf Stream pushed us along at sometimes 11knots.

Land Ho! We were able to clear customs online, and 6 hours later Hello Fort Lauderdale ! Now a few days drive to Stuart Florida where we will leave My Sharona until next fall. That’s about it for now… If I haven’t lost ya.. below is a link for a short video.. Thanks for joining us… nice to know you are there.
